You arrive somewhere you shouldn’t be. Smile, Step, Push is a 2D top-down puzzle prototype where you solve Sokoban-style block puzzles to unlock story beats. You wake in a desolate wasteland with no explanation, follow an owl’s instructions, and enter a place called The Hub, where someone there insists you solve puzzles.

WARNING: GAME BREAKING BUG > Don't talk to the owl after leaving Hub 2, go straight up through the fence.

This is a prototype build and my first game.
Expect: Short playtime and limited content, rough edges & potential bugs.
Gameplay: Push-block puzzles (pressure plates, doors), plus one room where puzzle movement and enemy avoidance overlap. Linked-movement puzzles: your character’s movement controls a block elsewhere at the same time, navigating a maze to reach goals.
Structure: Overworld > Hub > Puzzle Room x3 > Overworld > Hub > Puzzle Room x3 > Overworld > Ending, with dialogue and exposition progressing between completions.
Content / tone Dark humor + mystery

Instructions:

Movement: Arrow keys

Press R to restart at any time

Press space to start and continue dialogue.
